A Comprehensive Guide to Using 'This' and 'That'
Hello Students! Today we will learn the use of This and That. These are called "Demonstrative Pronouns" because they are used to point out objects.
Identification and Basic Rules (This/That के नियम)
English में This और That का प्रयोग किसी एक वस्तु (Singular Object) की ओर संकेत करने के लिए किया जाता है।
This (यह): इसका प्रयोग पास (Near) स्थित एक वस्तु या व्यक्ति के लिए किया जाता है।
That (वह): इसका प्रयोग दूर (Far) स्थित एक वस्तु या व्यक्ति के लिए किया जाता है।
महत्वपूर्ण नोट: इन दोनों के साथ हमेशा Is (Present में) या Was (Past में) का प्रयोग होता है क्योंकि ये Singular (एकवचन) हैं।
Simple (Affirmative) Sentences
Rule: This/That + Is + Object.
This is my house. — यह मेरा घर है।
That is a tall tree. — वह एक ऊँचा पेड़ है।
This is a red rose. — यह एक लाल गुलाब है।
That is a fast car. — वह एक तेज़ कार है।
This is your book. — यह तुम्हारी किताब है।
That is my school. — वह मेरा स्कूल है।
This is a wooden table. — यह एक लकड़ी की मेज है।
That is a bright star. — वह एक चमकता सितारा है।
This is an apple. — यह एक सेब है।
That is an airplane. — वह एक हवाई जहाज़ है।
This is a clever boy. — यह एक चतुर लड़का है।
That is a small bird. — वह एक छोटा पक्षी है।
This is my classroom. — यह मेरी कक्षा है।
That is a beautiful painting. — वह एक सुंदर पेंटिंग है।
This is a heavy bag. — यह एक भारी बैग है।
That is a wide river. — वह एक चौड़ी नदी है।
This is a sharp pencil. — यह एक तेज़ पेंसिल है।
That is a new mobile. — वह एक नया मोबाइल है।
This is my father's umbrella. — यह मेरे पिता का छाता है।
That is a white cow. — वह एक सफेद गाय है।
Negative Sentences
Rule: This/That + Is + Not + Object.
This is not my pen. — यह मेरा पेन नहीं है।
That is not a mountain. — वह पहाड़ नहीं है।
This is not a golden ring. — यह सोने की अंगूठी नहीं है।
That is not your bottle. — वह तुम्हारी बोतल नहीं है।
This is not a difficult task. — यह कठिन कार्य नहीं है।
That is not a wild animal. — वह जंगली जानवर नहीं है।
This is not a cold day. — यह ठंडा दिन नहीं है।
That is not a clean room. — वह साफ कमरा नहीं है।
This is not a sweet fruit. — यह मीठा फल नहीं है।
That is not my bicycle. — वह मेरी साइकिल नहीं है।
This is not a correct answer. — यह सही उत्तर नहीं है।
That is not a silver coin. — वह चांदी का सिक्का नहीं है।
This is not a black cat. — यह काली बिल्ली नहीं है।
That is not a big city. — वह बड़ा शहर नहीं है।
This is not an old man. — यह बूढ़ा आदमी नहीं है।
That is not a broken chair. — वह टूटी हुई कुर्सी नहीं है।
This is not a storybook. — यह कहानी की किताब नहीं है।
That is not a sunny day. — वह धूप वाला दिन नहीं है।
This is not a silk sari. — यह रेशमी साड़ी नहीं है।

Interrogative Type 1 Sentences (Starting with Is)
